Health care pricing — there is a better way

While there is much debate and uncertainty about the future of how health care and health insurance will be structured going forward, what we do know is that the United States spends $3 trillion on health care annually, which makes up 17% of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP).

Additionally, health care cost inflation is trending at 5.8%, which is 45% more than projected GDP growth. Shockingly, this is almost 50% more than the next highest spending country and, unfortunately, overall health outcome measures are not positively correlated to the amount the U.S. spends on health care.
